Here is one of the old posts. I will have to see if I can figure out the photos and find the other posts....
Its been awhile sorry. Lots going on and its hard to sit down sometimes and get it written down:)
Nicaragua was great!! The CVM family is amazing as always. They encouraged, shared and taught us.
Since then its kind of been nonstop. We got home and the forage garden had burned :(. Nothing lost that can't be replanted. On the 13th a senior student from Purdue arrived. She's here for 6 weeks. It hasn't been dull so far. In the vet work department she got to do a rumenotomy on a cow that turned out to be one of the best teaching opportunities we have had in Haiti and saved the farmer's cow. We had a chance to share about keeping trash picked up, tying up your animals or fencing your land. It makes a big impact when they see you pulling plastic out of the side of a cow.
Another "fun" one was working on a 200lb Mastiff.
Tomorrow we go to the south to do a training for some vet agents and help them with 2 days of clinics. We have 3 vets coming in today to help out. While we are doing vet stuff Jan along with the wife of one of the vets are going to do a sewing class at the center for 8 people from Merger.
Her mom spent a week with us, what a blessing she was and her husband is going to come in mid-March.
Last week was Carnival so we hosted a church retreat for the church in Merger. We agreed on 75 MAX! - it turned into 86!! It was wild but fun. I spent a lot of my time running here and there to get everything we needed. They ate 55 pounds of rice a day :).
"We" (I'm just the paper pusher and Odilon the organizer and implementer) are starting a new project. Older people are teaching younger ones weaving with grasses and leaves. Then part of the profit goes back into replanting - sustainable! They will be making mostly things that Haitians use daily but some crafts as well.
There's more but this is all I can think of right now :)
