God has a way of putting you where He wants you
The New Year - laying in my bed while Ronald sleeps reading all the facebook posts about the New Year reflecting on how blessed I am but as I was about to learn really not getting it. Thankful yes, but humbled and brought to my knees in thanksgiving
not yet. As Ronald woke I decided to go get food for the goats early. All this time standing by the side of the road was a woman and her young son beside their 10 buckets of water they had just pumped by hand.
Part of my thankfulness was for the quiet during Ronald's nap, no big dump trucks going by hauling sand down from the mountain. My blessing was a huge problem for this woman and her son as the dump truck drivers will stop and pick up people like them with their water buckets and drop them off on the way up to the mines. We left the house listening to a CD in our air conditioned truck singing as we drove without other vehicles on the road, we passed the lady and her son; she half heartedly raised her hands for a ride. Another car passed us both and then I just had to turn around because who knew how long she had been there or how much longer she would have to wait.
We loaded her buckets and she and her son climbed in the back of the truck, we got to the corner where I turn left to go get goat food and I said this way, she said no. So off we went. I kept waiting for the tap tap to let me know we had arrived. We passed all the buildings and were getting ready to start up the mountain. I stopped and asked her where are you going, she pointed down a small track and said over there, so there we went in the middle of nowhere, no houses or buildings in sight, we mounded a small rise and there was a small concrete building, 8 or so little pigs, a man, a boy, a girl and a baby. They all came and helped unload the water buckets. The man said you have no idea, I told her not to go today she wouldn't get the water home, but we had none and the kids would have died (not to mention the skinny baby pigs). You have blessed us 20,000 times. The woman picked up the baby and gave her a breast and me a smile that would have lit up the world.
Humbled and brought to my knees with thanksgiving. I measured the distance 7km to the well...
