It seems like it's getting longer and longer between my blog posts. Sorry, it's just been so busy. It's such a good busy too, things are moving right along the way they should. There are ups and downs and bumps in the road but it is all good!
Last week I spent the entire week at an aquaculture course. I have been learning how to raise Talapia. They are amazing fish that can grow in almost any environment and can grow and become a "cash crop" with little input. Me who doesn't eat fish is learning all this stuff. It was an amazing week (actually the class is 10 days but I have a group so I can't finish it). I met some very interesting Haitians and Americans. I am going to give the fish thing a try! I have the basics in hand and am going to set up an 8 foot diameter tank in my back yard and see what happens. My tank is a plastic pool. I hope to be able to grow some veggies too with the water that goes through the tank. It is going to be fun trying.
I have a group that arrived on Saturday. We went to the valley today and tomorrow we start a training with 6 pastors who are part of a goat project. They want some people to have some more training on goats so that they can help the people in the project and the area take better care of their animals. They are from way out in the mountains and don't have access to regular veterinary care. We are going to have theory in the mornings and practical stuff in the afternoon. It's going to be a good week.
One of the coolest things about last week was that we went to a place where there is a guy doing tropical fish. I am SO excited I am going to be able to get an aquarium. I so miss my tanks. It will be a bit but is something to look forward too. Fish swimming around are very soothing to the soul.
Everyone is good and all is well. Love to you all.
