Here is a post from last night that I put on my facebook cause, it will be a repeat for some sorry. But the photos aren't :) Today was another great day in the Give a Kid to a Kid program. 25 goats were delivered to the second class in the village of Pernier. All 25 children in this year's class passed their written and practical exam with 85% or better to receive their pregnant female goat. There is no way you can imagine how excited the children were. All the goats have ear tags with a number and the children randomly draw to see which goat they will receive. Most of the kids were craning their necks to see which was their goats and a few were sitting with their eyes closed praying for a beautiful very pregnant goat (we don't know how pregnant they are when we purchase them, just that they are pregnant so some are further along than others). It was also an extra special giving of goats because some of the members of the Merger goat project came along and helped to give the goats to the Pernier kids. They were so excited to be a part of the giving and so proud to help. They got a chance to share with the new kids their success stories and give them hope and encouragement. It was also special because 8 of the 25 goats came from the children of Merger giving back to the overall project. So the children of Pernier received goats directly from the children of Merger. It doesn't get much better than that! Thank you so much for your continued support of Give a Kid to a Kid! It is truly changing lives for the better. In the past 4 months five children have given their lives to the Lord because of training they have received in the project. One little girl was so proud to tell her story to the new children of how she had enough money to buy herself new clothes, pay for her National exam (children must pass an exam to move on to High School) and have money left over. That's what this project is all about - empowering children to make good decisions and advance their lives! We are planning on starting on new pilot project in the fall with children who have never been to school and teach them literacy while they learn about goats. Please consider sponsoring a child or help to pay for their teacher. You will be changing a life! $125.00 will pay for all teaching materials, all goat equipment, medicines and a pregnant female goat.
And here are the photos from the seed grenade making. Oh my was it ever a blast. The plan is next week we will divide the kids up in 3 groups and take them various place to toss their grenades. One group will be young kids to a place that's flat, then a gentle slope for the middle aged kids and the teenagers will hike a mountain. By the time all was said and done over 100 kids participated in rolling the seed balls.
