Isaac will be a thing of the past by tomorrow. He has left us behind, just the outer bands still hanging around. Lots of wind damage here in Port but not so much elsewhere. Trees, Tents and powerlines down. The rain has been pretty much nonstop since last night (not super hard) and the rivers are all full. Now the danger is mudslides and flooding. Lots of cold wet people tonight in tents and some without.
Ticante worked on their tent in Pax Villa and Rose and the kids are fine but about half of the tents in Pax Villa fell. They don't want to let them rebuild because they are trying to make them leave. It's a mess. There is another camp by the flood stage river and the people won't leave, that one I don't understand...
It has been a crazy week. We had a team here with Pastor Johnny and I went with them to Cap Haitian for the week. We had 75 kids and 10 team members. It was wonderful to see them learn about CPR, self defense, painting, guitar as well as bible teaching. We went to the Citadel on Thursday. It was so neat to see the kids get to see a part of their countries history. We were supposed to leave Friday and come home via an afternoon at the beach. Isaac changed all that. They cancelled the teams flight on Saturday and by the grace of God and some persistant telephone calls found out there was an American flight leaving at 11AM on Friday that could take 10 people (they were moving equipemnt out for the storm). It was an unscheduled, unannounced flight. We got in the cars at midnight and drove all night through the rain to get them back to Port. They made it on the plane - the last one before they closed the airport (it's back open tonight).
For the minute by minute details and daily updates of the past week. Please check my facebok page. There is just too much to write it all here. If you aren't my friend yet please friend me :). There are some great pictures of the camp and activities as well as storm pictures and videos.
Please keep praying for Haiti. It's going to be a long night. No rain at the moment but it has gotten a wee bit windy in the past few minutes.
