Its been a great week! I love to come to the countryside, its quiet, you can breathe, there are trees and birds, life is slower and the people nicer. If it wasn't so far to every place else in the country I would move back to the Les Cayes area.

Every team is different and with this one it has been so amazing to see how their confidence and skill level has grown. Haiti is such a good place to come to when you step out of your comfort zone. It is always a good lesson for me in patience building and grounding. This team is young (21-24) but they are wonderful women of faith and it is so fun to learn and share with other believers.

Sometimes I post other things from people about having short term teams come. Yes they are lots of work, it is a lot of extra responsibility, and they can be extremely challenging to deal with. For me though they are a blessing. It always makes me slow down and see the country through new eyes and appreciate and respect the cultural differences that are frustrating in the day to day life of living here. It is a chance for me to be fed by other believers, somehow its hard to find time in the bustle of daily life to just sit down and have those deep conversations about and with God. The interaction with other Americans, good or bad, makes me appreciate the richness of Haitian culture and reminds me of why I am here. They challenge me to define my faith and actions allowing me a chance to evaluate and adjust if necessary. In short I really love short-term teams and for me at least they do make a huge impact.
